The Art of
Colt Starting
Beyond the saddle and the bridle lies a language of respect. In the Phoenix desert, I cultivate foundations that endure for a lifetime.
Decades of Dirt,
Sweat, and Discipline.
I don't "break" horses at Pancho Colt Starting. I build them. Rooted in the traditional Vaquero approach, my methodology prioritizes the psychological well-being of the horse alongside physical prowess.
"A horse never forgets how you made them feel during their first thirty days."
Every session in my Phoenix facility is a testament to patience. From the first touch to the first gallop, I focus on the minute shifts in weight and gaze, ensuring your horse enters their career with a soft eye and a willing heart.
The Progression
A systematic three-phase approach designed to transition a wild mind into a professional partner.
Phase 1: Foundation
Establishing trust through ground work. Desensitization to ropes, pads, and human presence. The birth of communication.
Phase 2: Softness
Weight distribution and lateral movement. Developing a responsive mouth and a sensitive flank under the rider.
Phase 3: Performance
Refining the cues for specialized work. Whether ranching or showing, I solidify the discipline required for high-level tasks.
Crafting the Foundation
